Year 7 students’ first reflections

Year 7 students’ first reflections

Year 7 girls went ‘off timetable’ on Monday 19 September as they participated in their first ‘Day of Reflection’ as Senior School students. The day featured a usual mix (for Year 7 events) of noisy and boisterous games along with group discussions and moments of more quiet and personal reflection.

The day focused on the qualities important in friendship, listening to each other and, through sharing an object they had brought which was special to them and reflecting on important people, the girls began to explore the stories that lie behind people’s names. The girls also began to find out about the story behind the name of the school, including the Congregation of Jesus and our foundress, Mary Ward, and her Circle of Friends. As part of the closing reflection the students wrote letters to their future selves, with their feelings on starting this next stage in their lives, and their hopes for the future. As in previous years, these letters will be stored safely and returned to the girls when they leave the school in Upper Sixth.
