A popular programme of activities keeps boarders busy and entertained in their free time.
Christmas at the University of Cambridge
A highlight of the boarding year is our annual Christmas Dinner, held at the University of Cambridge.
With the vibrant, historic city of Cambridge just waiting to be explored there is something to keep everyone busy at weekends. Whilst living and studying at St Mary’s School, boarders have an opportunity to explore and enjoy Cambridge life.
Organised activities are provided every weekend – from punting, visiting Evensong at King’s College and cream teas on the lawn by the River Cam, to trips to museums and attractions such as the Fitzwilliam, The Scott Polar Institute and Ely Cathedral. We ensure our students truly embrace their local surroundings.
More about living in Cambridge
Closer to home, boarders have complimentary use of a near-by fitness centre, plus a whole range of organised in-house activities such as craft sessions, dance and cookery. There are also plenty of sporting facilities on-hand for badminton, basketball, tennis and netball practice, as well as time to focus on Art projects or Music practice.
Further afield, our boarders have enjoyed visiting the Harry Potter Studios and German Christmas markets in the UK, as well as a residential weekend to locations such as Manchester to visit the university and explore the city, as well as Stratford upon Avon and Edinburgh.
“We go on trips at the weekend and they are really fun. I have been to: Fitzwilliam Museum, Grantchester and Harry Potter World.” Trinity, Boarder
