Leadership

Taking the lead comes naturally

As an all-girls' school, we create an environment in which all girls can experience taking the lead.

St Mary's Junior School, Cambridge - house system

All girls belong to one of our four Houses: Brookside, Cavendish, Elms and Paston. Students earn House Points, rewarding a wide range of achievements, from outstanding learning to polite manners or kindness. Girls also represent their House on Sports Day, at charity events and in competitions during each school year.

Older girls take responsibility for younger girls in their House, setting a good example and leading weekly House assemblies. This builds the sense of family that runs through our school.

Our Councils

As well as a Prefect team, we have a wide choice of Councils and girls elected to these work hard to shape different aspects of school life.

  • School Council - representing student views and priorities for change in school life
  • Eco Council - championing environmental issues across our community
  • Tech Council - developing technology and digital skills as part of school life
  • Arts Council - taking forward creative initiatives in school
  • Faith Council - leading on issues related to our ethos and values
