A core aspect of our school ethos is focused on developing confident global citizens by instilling a strong sense of responsibility towards others and through charity and service to our local and world-wide community.
From fashion auctions, technology showcases and Boarders’ Concerts to Lent Hunger Lunches and Fun Runs – each school year brings plenty of opportunities for students to organise, run and engage in a variety of fundraising activities.
We have a long term commitment to support the development of a new Mary Ward School in Mbizo, Kwekwe in Zimbabwe, which will improve educational opportunities for girls of secondary school age, building on the work of the highly successful junior school that is already well established.
Our Lourdes Fundraising Fortnight is an annual initiative to raise money for the Glanfield Children's Group, which runs a holiday-pilgrimage to the French town of Lourdes every August in conjunction with The Catholic Association. Our Sixth Form students join members of staff and alumnae (for whom the trip is a regular highlight) on this holiday-pilgrimage, to volunteer in supporting sick and elderly pilgrims.
Each year our Charity Prefect team selects a range of charitable causes that they wish to support. These include local charities such as the Phoenix Trust (Milton) and Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, through to supporting gender equality through initiatives like Girl Up, and larger organisations like MacMillan Cancer Support, Children in Need, CAFOD and Save the Children.
