Science Double Award (two IGSCEs)

The Double Award course covers biology, chemistry and physics. This option is ideal if you are uncertain if you want to continue science post-16, or plan to pursue science but wish to include other subjects in your overall selection.

Before choosing whether to take two or three IGCSE qualifications in science, you will receive individual advice about which course best meets your needs.

The Science Double Award is worth two IGCSEs and covers all three sciences. Taught by specialist teachers, in our exceptional laboratory facilities, this option provides a good base to study any of the three sciences at A Level.

This Award covers approximately two thirds of the work covered by the three separate science IGCSEs (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), with 12 lessons per fortnight (four for each subject). This option is ideal if you are not certain if you wish to study science post-16, or already know they want to pursue science post-16 but have many talents in other fields.

Assessment

This course is assessed with three 2-hour written examinations, each worth 33.3% of the total mark.
