At St Mary's we welcome girls with a broad range of academic abilities – it is an important part of our ethos, and reflects our belief in the value of each individual.
How to apply
Joining St Mary's School, Cambridge
We are looking for girls who are enthusiastic, have a desire to engage in learning, and who will immerse themselves in school life; taking part in extra-curricular activities, supporting our ethos, and being an active member of our school community.
When to apply
The application process typically begins at least 12 months prior to joining, although we are happy to consider later applications, as long as places are available in the relevant year group. We do offer a waiting list if the year group in question is full.
We accept applications to all year groups (except Year 11 and Upper Sixth), subject to space. However, girls usually join in Reception, Year 3, Year 7 or Year 9. Sixth Form students join in Lower Sixth.

Our admissions process
Our final stage of the process involves formal and informal assessments; including tests and face-to-face interviews appropriate to the age of the applicant. We want to understand each girl’s potential as much as her current levels of achievement, and so try to make the process as relaxed as possible.
Girls applying for places in Year 3 to Year 9 are invited to a pre-assessment tea prior to our formal assessment day, to become familiar with the environment and meet current as well as other prospective students before assessment day.
At this stage we will also contact your daughter's previous school to request detailed references.
