Captain Faux's flying visit

Captain Faux's flying visit

Year 3 girls met a real pilot on Friday morning who told them about flying a Boeing 737 to Rome. The group ‘boarded the plane’, ably assisted by the cabin crew, Mrs Johnson and Mrs McWilliam, and were safely flown by Captain Faux. The doors were fastened, the diesel was loaded, the engines were started up and the safety procedures were explained. Everyone fastened their seat belts and enjoyed a turbulence free journey that took about three hours. The travellers were in the hands of air controllers in France and Switzerland before reaching Italian air space and all arrived safely, disembarked and collected their luggage.

The girls learnt about what pilots have to do when there is foggy weather (fortunately they have auto-pilot) and Captain Faux answered some brilliant questions. Later the girls went outside and had a session learning to fly paper aeroplanes with as little drag as possible. Anna H. made a model of an airport and the terminal – pictured with Captain Faux.
