Ella B. shows she has The Write Stuff

The Write Stuff short story competition is a writing competition for girls between the ages of 11 and 18. The competition was launched in March 2015 and invited girls to write a short, fictional story with a central theme of 'friendship'. Hundreds of entries were received as part of the competition and the judging panel, including Barbara Taylor Bradford and The Sunday Times Editorial Director Eleanor Mills, assessed each story’s quality of writing, imagination, creativity, and originality as well as the entrant’s use of the English language.

Our English department encouraged students to enter, in their own time, and we are delighted to announce that Year 11 student Ella B. was one of only two runners up in her age group for her story ‘Floss spider’, with judges commending her for her use of “nature as a mirror to create a thoughtful, well written story with depth and a visual dimension”. Well done Ella!
