Duke of Edinburgh's Silver Award assessed expedition

Duke of Edinburgh's Silver Award assessed expedition

Over the Easter Break, 36 Year 11 girls completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award assessed expeditions, which took place in the Yorkshire Dales. After an orientation walk around the Hawes area on Thursday 7 April, including a brief visit to the Wensleydale cheese factory, the girls spent the first night in Hawes Youth Hostel. On Friday the girls set out on a three day expedition. With six groups following different routes each day, the walks varied wildly, and encompassed visits to Lake Semerwater and Aysgarth Falls. The girls were carrying heavy packs, camping, and cooking for themselves on trangia stoves. The last day brought with it lovely weather and a beautiful ending at Castle Bolton. Well done to each of the groups on great achievements!
