Boarders Classics trip

Boarders Classics trip

On Saturday 27 February a group of Year 7, 8 and 9 boarders visited the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge. Accompanied by Miss Rebecca Dunn, Head of Classics, the girls spent the day examining casts of famous Ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. A particular highlight of the trip was the chance to see the pedimental sculpture of Medusa from the temple of Artemis, which Year 9 students were able to appreciate and explain to the younger girls because they have been learning about the myth of Medusa in their Classical Civilisation lessons. The girls then had some free time to learn more about the sculptures and draw some beautiful sketches of the art works. The girls enjoyed seeing how the styles and techniques of art have developed over time, as well as learning more about Greek religion and mythology.
