Finding Nemo, fundraising and fun running

Junior School and Senior School students, along with their teachers, ran laps around Lammas Land in Cambridge on Friday 21 October as part of the school’s annual Fun Run – our main charity fundraising event each year.

Wearing fancy dress costumes inspired by this year’s theme, Disney favourites, students ran 5km (or 1km for Junior School pupils) – with Headmistress Charlotte Avery dressed as Minnie Mouse and Head of Juniors Matthew O’Reilly dressed as Micky Mouse. Costumes were inspired by Carl and Russell from Up; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, although there were only six dwarfs at one stage; The Incredibles; Nemo and Dory from Finding Nemo; Cruella de Vil and her Dalmatians from 101 Dalmatians; and quite a few Elsas from Frozen, to name just a few.

Our ‘20 campaign’ encourages each student to gain sponsorship of just £1 from 20 different people, so that by each student’s commitment to raising just £20 we can collectively raise an impressive sum for charity. This year’s event is anticipated to raise £6,000, although the final total will be confirmed once all sponsorship money has been collected and donated.

Selected by the school’s Charities Prefects to receive a proportion of the funds raised are: the work of Sister Christopher and the CJ Community in Zimbabwe; Arthur Rank Hospice; Educaid (Sierra Leone); Friends of the Earth UK; Emmaus; Mines Advisory Group (MAG); Pilgrimage People (Palestinian parishes). Once the amount raised has been confirmed, Mr Daniel Bennett, Head of Christian Life, along with the Charities Prefects, will decide how to distribute the donations.
