Alumna takes on cycling challenge to raise money for charity
Pippa Erskine (née Kent), an alumna of St Mary's, and the sister of Jenny and Daisy, is at present one of the 1.5 million people classed as extremely vulnerable because she has had a lung transplant to save the life she almost lost to cystic fibrosis. She was intending to celebrate the third anniversary of her operation by cycling between the Royal Brompton Hospital and Addenbrooke's to raise money for the NHS on Easter Sunday, but Covid-19 and the lockdown put paid to that, so, on a turbo trainer which could simulate the topography of the ride, she did the challenge in her garden in Battersea: the equivalent of 100km in 5hrs 3mins. We are so proud of such an extremely courageous alumna and the Headmistress will be reporting on Pippa’s ride in an assembly after half term, because current pupils will find her story inspirational.
