A walk in the Peaks

A walk in the Peaks

33 Year 11 students and three Lower Sixth students, together with their teachers, spent the weekend in the Peak District as part of their expedition training for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The group departed on Friday morning from school, and spent the afternoon on orientation walks to practise the skills learnt in the Bronze Award expedition, before spending the first night at a youth hostel in the village of Eyam.

On the Saturday morning the groups set off from the hostel - with Year 11 students training for the Silver Award and Lower Sixth students training for the Gold Award - for a three day walk across 15km of Peak District landscape, carrying all of the equipment they needed and camping and cooking each evening, finishing in Rowley having seen some breathtaking scenery. The girls were fantastic, with positive outlooks throughout the three days, and were blessed with some lovely blue skies and hardly any rain at all. The group returned to school early on Monday evening and should be very proud of themselves!
