Year 5 Pupil Isla H. Published in Wicked Young Writers Competition Book
We are delighted to share that Isla H., a talented Year 5 pupil at St Mary’s Junior School, has had her 100-word story selected and published as part of the Wicked Young Writers Competition.
Inspired by her imagination one evening at home, Isla H.’s story follows a girl who falls through a deep hole — only to find herself in a dream world made entirely of sweets, gingerbread, candyfloss and chocolate. The magical idea came to her naturally: “It just came from my head,” she said. “My imagination took over.”
This is Isla's first time writing a short story, having previously written longer pieces and entered other competitions. Although she enjoys English, her favourite subject is Computer Science - showing her creative talents stretch well beyond the page.
Currently reading The Chronicles of Narnia, with The Hobbit next on her list, Isla H. is already thinking about future stories to tell.
We are so proud of Isla H. for this exciting achievement — and we can’t wait to see what she writes next!
