Year 3 start reading epic adventure Beowulf!

Year 3 start reading epic adventure Beowulf!

This week, amongst the wonderful reflections and work focused on the understanding of mental health for Mental Health Awareness Week, Year 3 have continued their study of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

We spent time reading a children's version of "Beowulf" as a class during our English lessons and discussed how this epic poem used very specific, exciting language to help the reader understand the complexity of the various characters and settings.  We also used our High Performance Learning 'Astrid the Ant' linking skills to connect what we've learned so far about Vikings to deepen our understanding of the story.

We will use "Beowulf" to inspire our own epic adventure story which the girls will be creating over the next few weeks.
