Student's GCSE Artwork picked to be CD album cover

St Mary's art student Amie B had her thoughts firmly on her GCSE Year 11 portfolio when she painted a beautiful and joyful picture of her friend and classmate, Maia G.

Until, that is, Peter Rose, of RoseConlon Music saw Amie’s work and thought it would be perfect to accompany their Mary Ward Cantata ‘Called To Be Happy’.

The cantata is to be published on CD by Josef Weinberger Ltd. and at Peter's request, will feature Amie’s wonderful image as the front cover.

‘I am very pleased to have my work selected to be the front cover for this creative music project. I hope people can see the link between my work and the music’s intentions’. Amie B, Year 11.

Head of Art, Su Conroy was delighted to say: ‘We are very proud of Amie’s achievements throughout the duration of her art studies with us. This accolade is a fitting tribute to her skill as an art practitioner.’

The premiere performance of 'Called to be Happy' was given by Maria Ward-Schule, Mainz, Germany on March 12th 2022 by a 75-strong orchestra and accompanying choir and was a triumph, and quoted as ‘absolutely stunning'.
