St Mary's students win Latin reading competition

St Mary’s students in Years 9 and 10 recently took part in the Cambridge Classical Association Latin Reading competition. This competition takes place every year and students from a variety of local schools compete to read a passage of Latin; their performance is judged on both accurate pronunciation and dramatic flair. This year the in-person contest was not possible but the students worked hard to learn the passages which were recorded and judged remotely – the competition was fierce and the Junior Latin category received a record number of entries. Congratulations to Marina B.-R. in Year 10 who won first prize in the Intermediate Latin category and Emily L .and Victoria L. in Year 9 who were both awarded Highly Commended prizes in the Junior Latin category.
