Rowing success: Cambridge Christmas Head

Students from Year 8 through to Sixth Form, alongside a few alumnae, had a fantastic day representing St Mary’s at the Cambridge Christmas Head, taking part in six events across 15 school crews.

It was a successful day on the water, with four outstanding wins.

The first came in the Women’s Junior Beginner Quads, where our Year 9 quad of Penelope R.M. (Cox), Juliet W., Alice C., Orla L., and Lottie A. finished ahead of our Year 8 quad, who took third place. In the WJ13 (Year 8) singles, Klara D. claimed victory in an internal St Mary’s race, closely followed by Katie M., Lily T., and George C-N.

Our third win came in the WJ18 doubles, where the J16 pairing of Sophie R. and Leni J.M. raced to a convincing victory, recording the fastest Junior girls’ double of the day. Finally, the Women’s Senior Doubles saw recent alumna Natasha L. team up with her Year 12 sister Vanessa to take first place, narrowly beating another St Mary’s crew, with Charlotte M. and alumna Liv H. finishing just one second behind in second.

Congratulations to all our rowers for their outstanding performances and dedication — a fantastic display of teamwork, skill, and school spirit on the water.
