First ever alumnae hockey match brings together past and present St Mary’s students

On Friday 10 September the pitch was set for our first alumnae hockey match, hosted at St Mary’s state-of-the-art sports facilities on Long Road. Returning to the St Mary’s hockey pitch, three alumnae joined teamed up with our Sixth Form students to take on the Under-16 team, composed of nine Year 10 and 11 girls.

Despite strong competition from the alumnae and Sixth Formers, the Under-16 girls won the game, while Year 9 Sports Scholars watched the game eagerly from wings. The students and alumnae had a great evening and continued to get to know each other over celebratory pizza afterwards. We’d like to thank all our alumnae who returned that evening to share their love of sports with our latest promising hockey players.

Inspiring all students to enjoy sports and a healthy lifestyle remain central to life at St Mary’s. Find out more here.
