Year 10 student excels in Mathematical Olympiad

Year 10 student Nancy Y. was recently awarded a distinction in the national Hamilton Olympiad an annual mathematics challenge run by United Kingdom Mathematics Trust.

The Hamilton stage of the Olympiad is an invitation-only competition, which follows on from the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. Each year around 600 of the highest-scoring Challenge entrants are selected from schools across the UK to participate in the Hamilton Olympiad.

The Hamilton Olympiad consists of a 2-hour online test, comprising six problems that require full written solutions. Only the highest-scoring participants receive Certificates of Distinction placing Nancy Y. amongst the most talented Year 10 mathematicians in the UK.

"We were really proud of all the students who entered the Mathematical Challenge and it's especially rewarding to see Nancy achieve a distinction in the very challenging Hamilton Olympiad." Heather Collinson, Teacher of Mathematics

Well done Nancy!
