Boarders Host Afternoon Tea for Local Almshouse Residents

Boarders Host Afternoon Tea for Local Almshouse Residents

As part of a much-loved annual tradition, our boarders at St Mary’s School, Cambridge once again opened their doors — and their hearts — to host a delightful afternoon tea for the residents of the Hills Road almshouses on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Drawing Room was transformed for the occasion, beautifully decorated with bunting and floral table settings to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests were treated to a delicious spread of homemade treats, including sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones with jam and cream, and an array of cakes — all lovingly prepared and served by our students.

Musical entertainment added to the charm of the afternoon, with Veronika K delivering a heartfelt solo performance, followed by Qianxi H’s graceful flute rendition of a Vivaldi piece — both received with great appreciation.

The afternoon concluded with a lively game of bingo, complete with small prizes, laughter and light-hearted competition.

It was a heart-warming event and a wonderful opportunity for students and residents to share stories, smiles and a true sense of community across generations.
