St Mary’s staff and students raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer

On Friday 30 September and Wednesday 5 October, Junior School families and St Mary’s Senior School staff dusted off their baking aprons and brought their best cakes to school to host Macmillan Coffee Mornings. The funds raised will go towards helping people who are living with cancer.

Inspired by the latest series of The Great British Bake Off, teaching and support staff and families created cakes of all shapes and sizes and sold them in the staff room. Colleagues and Junior School girls enjoyed the baking delights on offer and donated generously in return for the sweet treats – raising almost £400 collectively.

Every year, people all over the UK host their own Macmillan Coffee Mornings. Last year, the charity raised over £11 million and hopes to top that this year.
