Year 5 enjoy art workshops led by Sixth Form Textiles Scholars

The girls in Year 5 have had some fantastic art sessions led by Sixth Form Textiles Scholars this week.

The Scholars came from the Senior School to work with the girls to create a piece of tapestry which will be hung in Ely Cathedral as part of their 'Heaven & Earth' event. The event is led to raise awareness of the responsibility we have as stewards of Earth to look after God's creation and acknowledge the impact of climate change. In the first session, some of the girls learned how to tie dye using natural materials, including turmeric and red cabbage! All the girls then had a printing session where they used natural materials from the garden to print their various designs onto the tie dyed material.

The project will come together next week as some of the girls will come to learn a basic sewing stitch!
