Not Long to go! Sports Pavilion on track for summer completion

The final stages of St Mary's ambitious Long Road Sports Development are now well underway, with the Pavilion structure taking shape and on course for completion by September 2021.

Throughout Autumn Term, students in Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form enjoyed using the exceptional new sporting facilities already available at our Long Road development.

Work is now in full swing on the final phase of this ambitious development undertaken in partnership with Homerton College, part of the University of Cambridge. This will see the completion of a large Pavilion facility, including a kitchen and changing rooms which will greatly enhance the overall provision, especially in terms of hosting competitive matches.

Additional finishing touches, such as landscaping and completion of the car park are also firmly in the pipeline with a completion date of September 2021 well in reach - despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic.

Hannah Helliar, Partnerships Director at St Mary's comments: "It is so exciting to see this bold partnership with Homerton College coming to fruition. Seeing students enjoying the facilities last term confirmed how transformative these facilities will be for sport at St Mary's. We cannot wait to return to face-to-face lessons and to see our girls progressing and competing in athletics, hockey, cricket and netball at Long Road."

St Mary's doesn't stand still, and with Long Road now nearing its final stages of completion, the School has its sights set on progressing plans for a STEM Lab in Junior School and redevelopment of the Senior School site.
