International Admissions Officer
What was your favourite subject at school? This is a really tricky question because I absolutely loved school and almost all of my subjects! The favourite would be a toss-up between: Geography, French, History and PE.
How did you come to work in your current role? I previously worked as a PA for a Financial Advisor but, finances having never been my strong point, after two years I decided to look for work in a different industry. I always thought I’d love to work in a school so I accepted a temporary role in the admissions department – for one week in October 2013 – and here I am two years later.
What’s your favourite thing about working at St Mary’s School, Cambridge? Although I didn’t know it when I took the temporary role here, it turned out my Granny was a student at this school! My favourite thing about working here is the atmosphere within the school. It still overwhelms me every day just how lovely the staff and students are – I get a warm, family feeling every day, which I am very glad about.
Favourite things! What's your all-time favourite…
Film: It’s got to be Love Actually. I watch it every year with my sisters at Christmas; it’s now a tradition and Christmas wouldn’t be the same without it.
Recipe: Anything with fish! Or anything Italian!
Who inspires you? My lovely Mum, who is the most selfless, caring, considerate person I know. Over the last few years she has become a volunteer bereavement counsellor and I can only hope that when I'm in that situation, I have someone like her to help me through.
What’s your favourite hobby? Having just signed up for the Coast to Coast cycling challenge in August next year I'm hoping that, before long, cycling becomes a favourite hobby. Otherwise it will be a long three days in August.
Where has been your favourite holiday? This is another tricky question; I was so lucky to go travelling when I was 18, and I've had some amazing holidays with family and friends too. If I had to choose just one place, I think New Zealand or Thailand would be top of the list.
What’s your worst habit? I’m not sure if it’s a habit, but crying! I cry at anything and everything.
