The Cantab's Winter Head marks St Mary's first race of the season

The Cantab's Winter Head, held on a clear and bright Saturday in November, marked St Mary's first race of the 2023-24 season. Armed with our new club blade colours, the event saw four crews entered across three events.

First up was our Year 10 crew, racing in Women's J15 coxed quads. The crew, a mix of experience from National medal winners through to first time competitors, got off to a great start with an overtake in the first 500m. Their second half took them away from the opposition and to the win, placing first of five crews.

Also racing were two more coxed quads made up from Year 9 and Year 10 students. Both crews had solid rows, placing first and second in their category and measuring up well against the other junior coxed quads.

Finally, our Sixth form coxless quad raced in the Senior women's quad. The crew led through the 1km timing point and extended their lead by the finish, winning their category and also setting the fastest time for a women's quad of the day.

Next up is the Cambridge Christmas Head on 2 December.
