'La dolce vita' for Sixth Form students

'La dolce vita' for Sixth Form students

During the half term break 30 of our Sixth Form students (accompanied by three members of staff) travelled to Venice for what will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of their time in Sixth Form. Learning to travel mainly by water seemed so very different to the usual methods of transport everyone is used to in the UK, and all the students had become experienced vaporetto (Venician water bus) travellers by the time they left. Other highlights included seeing the beautiful mosaics in Saint Mark's Basilica where the group attended Mass, taking part in a live glass blowing demonstration with the dexterity and artistry shown by a master craftsman, and of course the opportunity to develop a wider appreciation of delicious Italian ice cream. Art galleries, museums and eating amongst Italians in their local communities allowed the group to taste a little of ‘la dolce vita’. Needless to say, the members of staff who visited are already looking forward to taking their next group in 2017!
