Gymnastics display 2018

This year’s gymnastics display took place on the evening of Tuesday 6 February. The display was opened by a group of lower school dance scholars, followed by a dynamic and skillful routine by our Year 6 Junior School pupils to the sound of Becoming one of the people from the Avatar soundtrack. We had 40 Senior School girls taking part, who all worked incredibly hard in recent weeks to create unique and challenging routines, with five individual and 11 Senior School group routines. The display was closed by the trampette and vault group, which dazzled and dizzied the audience with their somersaulting and tumbling.

Mrs Jackie Ewing, Head of PE, was delighted to award Year 9 students Poppy E., Jess C. and Jessica F. their Years of Service awards for participating in the display for five years, and Year 11 student Shona M.P. was presented with hers for six years of service. Olenska S-H (Year 11 student) was awarded the Frances Hawkins Gymnastics Salver for her skill level, dedication and commitment to the gymnastics display throughout her six years. All those involved should be proud of their tremendous achievements on the night - well done! Special thanks must go to Miss Louise Powell, Miss Sonia Josiffe, Mrs Cindy O’Connell, Miss Kim Cooil and Dr Alex Cardwell for, without them, the gymnastics display would not be the success it is.
