Winning streak for St Mary's student in Senior Maths Challenge

A St Mary's Sixth Form student has won Gold at the recent Senior Maths Challenge after being recognised as one of the country's top performing mathematical pupils.

Elizabeth G. scored the highest mark in the school in the Senior Challenge following her outstanding success in the Maclaurin Mathematical Olympiad in May.

Heather Collinson, Teacher of Mathematics was delighted to tell her the significance of her achievements:

"Many congratulations, Elizabeth, on your winning streak; you have again scored the highest mark in the school in the Senior Maths Challenge and have been awarded a Gold certificate. You are also invited to take part in the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo."

A further 34 keen, competitive maths students from both the Sixth Form and Senior School also came away with excellent results, receiving silver and bronze certificates in the 90-minute challenge of multiple-choice questions designed for those with precision of thought, mathematical fluency and reasoning.

We were delighted to see Charlotte B,. Cadee C., Niamh C., Claudia F., Mai L., Sofia M., Hannah P., Christina T., Yao X., Davina Y. from Year 11, Tabi B., Charmaine H. and Ruixuan Y. from the Lower Sixth, and Medeea G., Sophia L., Obelia L., Fisayo O., Susan D., Elena W. and Cecelia Y from the Upper Sixth awarded Bronze certificates. 

Silver certificates were awarded to  Christine C., Sophie G., Jasmine H., Jacy T. and Sonia W. in Year 11, Gaby C., Annika S. and Peggy T. in the Lower Sixth and Bernice C., Maryam G., Honglei W., Lisa Z., Charity Z., and Katherine W. in the Upper Sixth and we were delighted with their achievements.
