Charitable update

Our staff and students continue to support a number of charities and charitable events. As we approach Christmas we are participating, once again, in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal, with which many of you will already be familiar. We are delighted that 50 shoeboxes have so far been donated. On Friday students from the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form were fundraising for Children in Need and wearing Pudsey Ears to mark the day.

In the first half term of the academic year there was a strong charitable focus, some highlights of which were:

  • the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, through which Sixth Form students raised £178
  • Year 11 students’ range of fundraising efforts – jointly supporting the work of the CJ sisters overseas as well as providing Glenfield Hospital in Leicester with another ECMO machine (to support patients with acute respiratory or cardiac failure) – which currently stands at £440 and continues to rise.

Well done and thank you to every girl, member of staff, family member and friend who has contributed in some way to the school’s overall support of a range of charitable works already this year. Congratulations also to Miss Lees who has recently completed the Aspire Channel Swim challenge, having learned to swim especially for the challenge – any further donations would evidently be welcomed by Miss Lees.
