A place to explore.

Work experience, activities and trips

Gain independence as you step out into the world

Life at The Sixth is full of co-curricular activities, social events, fundraisers and more, offering opportunities to build friendships and share experiences.

Through work placements with world-leading employers, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, trips to Rome; Costa Rica, Amsterdam and Iceland, plus experiences to support our Christian ethos - you will discover ways to broaden your horizons way beyond the Sixth.

"Each year, we organise a cultural trip, such as our Iceland trip. Iceland provides a host of opportunities to experience and learn about a variety of geographical wonders, from the Blue Lagoon, a natural geothermal spa and climbing one of Iceland’s largest glaciers to visiting the black sand beach at Reynishverfi and the Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and Gullfoss waterfalls."

Duke of Edinburgh

Many of our students complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, an internationally recognised award established for over 50 years. This challenging Award aims to develop a sense of independence, self-belief and responsibility. Students who complete this Award volunteer, learn, and join three or four day camping and hiking expeditions and gain valuable leadership and team work skills.
