Christmastime at the Junior School 2025

Christmastime at the Junior School 2025

'Twas the month before Christmas, and all through the school

the excitement was growing, with giving to all;

Days filled with Nativities, carols and treats,

and charity giving and caring complete.

So, on went the month with its bustle and cheer,

Reminding us all why this season’s so dear;

For learning still sparkles, though routines may bend,

When Christmas and kindness together attend.

Our wonderful Pre-Prep Nativity performance was ‘A Christmas Dream’. The girls were fantastic: every smile (and giggle!), every line, every song, and every moment on stage radiated joy and confidence.

What made this production truly special was that the ideas came directly from the girls themselves. It was their imagination, enthusiasm, and creativity that were beautifully woven together and shaped into an original script.

Our carol service at The Church of Our Lady of English Martyrs (OLEM) was a joyous occasion. The St Mary’s community came together - pupils, younger siblings, parents, grandparent and alumnae - in a truly wonderful, shared celebration.

With the Junior School strengthened by the practiced voices of the Bella Voce choir members, the carols rang out accompanied by a wonderful descant.

The Junior School choir, Bella Voce, is the reigning Girls School Association Choir of the Year 2025. This December they made a guest performance at the Ditchburn Place Retirement Village in Cambridge - a repeat visit after the residents so enjoyed last year's sing-along!

Their performances also spread festive cheer at the turning on of Christmas lights in the Grand Arcade, Cambridge, and at the Presents Galore Fair in Newmarket.

The Christmas tree in the Junior School was festooned with the girls' hand-made decorations, just in time for carols round the tree and a special visitor..

Christmas Jumper Day was a fun and festive way to raise some much-needed funds for Save the Children.

We are very grateful at the Junior School for our marvellous PTA, who help enhance both pupils' and parents' St Mary's experience with events, fundraising and support throughout the year - we extend a heartfelt thank you, for all you do.

Their Christmas Carols by the tree, with mulled wine for parents, was a lovely occasion to welcome in the festivities, early in December.

And finally, just in the 'Saint Nick' of time, a special visitor and his elves found their way to the Junior School to share out some presents with some very enthusiastic girls.
