Exploring creative climate change solutions
A themed week of climate change exploration culminated in a Climate Change Conference, involving expert speakers, passionate advocates for climate action and collaborative learning activities.
This week has seen girls take a deep-dive on the topical issue of climate change. Many pupils are already passionate about taking action to protect the planet - particularly our very pro-active Eco Council representatives.
Through a series of assemblies, in-class topic work and thought-provoking activities, girls enjoyed evaluating different collective actions, and the small, individual changes we can make on a daily basis.
A busy week culminated in a Climate Change Conference, with inspiring talks kindly given by guest speakers from Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and SOAS. We were also delighted to hear from a number of our St Mary's parents, currently working on the frontline of climate change.
Topics were broad and engaging, with particular focus on how tech innovation could provide answers to some of the big challenges we face.
It was fantastic to welcome Year 6 children from St Alban's RC School for the Climate Change Conference. All the children asked fantastic questions and engaged brilliantly with each other and our guest experts.
Working collaboratively, Year 6 pupils delivered a climate change debate, topical films and also enjoyed planting a tree in our gardens, generously donated by Cambridge City Council.
