Eco Council runs first planting event

The Eco Council ran its first planting event today under the friendly guidance of Chris, our head gardener. The aim is to increase the biodiversity of our school grounds by planting lavender and bee-friendly plants around the Elms garden.

Girls from Years 7 - 13 attended and planted a variety of colourful plants, including erysimum and broom as well as the lavender. The girls were especially pleased to learn also that the compost used included petals from the school's magnolia tree which is a wonderful example of recycling natural materials. The Eco Council's next steps will be to plant a 'wildflower meadow' and to create an insect-friendly area in the Sixth Form Garden.
