Royal welcome from St Mary's

Two days before the Royal Wedding, St Mary’s Senior and Junior Schools welcomed Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to Cambridge with a sea of waving flags, bunting and an impressive window displays dedicated to the big day.

Great support for Fairtrade fortnight

St Mary’s students of all ages have been showing their support and commitment to Fairtrade as they took part in a host of activities as part of Fairtrade fortnight.

World Book Day at St Mary’s

St Mary’s students celebrated World Book Day with a variety of activities taking place throughout the school.

Trips and Visits

All children take part in a variety of field trips during the course of the year. Children in Year 4 take part in an annual three-day residential field trip and Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to experience a five-day trip abroad. These trips are of historic, scientific, geographic, musical, theatrical or cultural interest.

Years 3, 4 and 5 were given an illustrated talk by EDF Energy on Monday 1 February.


Harvest Gift Bears Fruit in India
Children from a school in Southern India received new chairs, tables, uniforms and even hula hoops and cricket bats, thanks to a donation from St Mary's Junior School.

Local British Olympian Visits St Mary’s
Marissa King, a British Olympic athlete from Huntingdon Gym, who competed in the Beijing Olympics, visited St Mary's Junior School as part of the British Sports for Schools programme on the 23 June.


Reception Class Welcomes Scaly Visitors!
St Mary's Reception class met slithering snakes and lounging lizards in May when they were visited by local Cambridge company, ‘The Reptile Experience'.


Year 5 Visit OLEM
On Wednesday 25 March, Year 5 visited the Catholic Church in Cambridge: Our Lady and the English Martyrs (OLEM). They looked carefully at the architecture and design of the building as well as the artefacts within, to further understand the place of churches within history.


Form 4 Visit an Anglo-Saxon Village
On Thursday 19^th March, Form 4 had an exciting field trip to the Anglo-Saxon Village at West Stow as part of their history studying the Anglo-Saxons.


Year 4 Celebrate World Book Day at Borders!
Form 4 girls celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 5^th March by visiting Borders Bookshop in Cambridge for the afternoon.


Form 3 Visit Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre
On Tuesday 3 March Form 3 visited Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre for the day to study migration and adaptation of birds as part of their Science enrichment.


Sightseeing Tour of Cambridge
Form 2 have an exciting day touring Cambridge on the Cambridge Sightseeing Bus Tour, looking at the Mathematical Bridge and Kings College Chapel.



Form 5 Visit to Ingatestone Hall

Ingatestone Hall Visit

Form 5 visit Ingatestone Hall, a magnificent sixteenth century manor house in Essex as part of their study of the Tudors. The girls enjoyed exploring the hall and its collection of artefacts accumulated over the centuries by the Petre family.

Year 5 & 6 Trip to the Bay of Naples
A group of 57 Year 5 and 6 girls along with seven staff returned from an amazing field trip to the Bay of Naples in May. The days were packed full of sightseeing and exploration, mixed with much fun, Italian ice cream and shopping!


Form 3 Visit Welney
Form 3 girls visited Welney Wetland Centre near Wisbech in February as part of their Science studies. The pupils were looking at adaptation and migration of birds, particularly the Whooper swans from Iceland.


Reception Class Visit The Fitzwilliam
Reception Class visited the Fitzwilliam Museum to listen to the story of Sleeping Beauty told from paintings and sculptures. Reception visit the Museum each term to learn to look at the paintings closely.
