Form 5 Visit to Ingatestone Hall
On 23rd September, Year 5 visited the magnificent sixteenth century manor house, Ingatestone Hall, as part of their study of the Tudors. The girls enjoyed exploring the hall and its collection of artefacts accumulated over the centuries by the Petre family. The actual bloodstained clothes of a beheaded Tudor man caused quite a stir and the cramped priest holes were of particular fascination.  The girls crept down the lime tree avenue listening for the barks of the Hall’s only ghost; Lord Petre’s faithful dog which defended him against robbers in this area and which is said to patrol the property to this day.  The girls loved the day out and are looking forward to dressing up for a day of Tudor entertainment and activities after half term.
