Prep
St Mary’s Prep is located nearby at No 6 Chaucer Road. Our newly refurbished, elegant Victorian building offers dedicated subject classrooms including specialist art, music and science rooms. The building also boasts a spacious hall, a library and garden. As with the Pre-Prep, small class size allows the teachers to support and foster each individual's skills and talents. Great emphasis is placed on building each child's self-confidence and self-esteem.

The National Curriculum is incorporated into our own Programmes of Study, with Form Tutors generally teaching English, Mathematics, ICT, History, Geography and Science, as well as Personal, Social and Health Education. Subjects taught by specialists include French, Spanish, German, Music, Games, Gymnastics, Swimming and Dance. Religious Studies is central to the curriculum and encourages an understanding of many faiths, combining the teaching of Christianity with other World Religions.

With our individualised approach, we aim to combine the best of traditional and modern methods of teaching. Homework and regular standardised testing, as well as small group study, ensure that each student's progress is carefully monitored. An extensive support timetable is offered.

Each student is expected to reach a high academic standard to fulfil her potential. Familiarity with the Senior School buildings, its teachers and resources ensures a seamless transition across the whole school.
