Assessment

Continuity and progression are carefully monitored, and this is underscored by a regular programme of formal and informal assessment and reporting.

Contact between Home and School

Visits to the form or Head teacher are welcomed. Parents are encouraged to discuss any matter with their daughter’s form teacher at the beginning of the school day, but we understand that parents’ schedules may not allow them time to do this. Each class teacher therefore invites parents to an Introductory Evening at the start of Autumn term, which also gives parents an opportunity to meet one another.

Each term there are Consultation Evenings to discuss your daughter’s progress, alongside termly written reports. Parents are also invited to contact the school at any time if they have any queries or worries.

Each child is also given a home/school notebook, which provides another channel of communication between parents and teacher.

Homework

In the Pre–Prep, Year 1 children are given spellings to learn each week from the start of Spring term onwards. Year 2 children are given regular 10 minute homework.

In the Prep, children are assigned homework each night, and all homework is signed by the parent or carer, so that you have a clear knowledge of your daughter’s standard of work. Year 3 are given 15 minutes homework nightly and this allotment increases gradually to 60 minutes by Year 6. The regular homework timetable ensures reinforcement of the day’s activities.

Rewards

Rewards for good work are in the form of credits, which are given at the discretion of the form teacher. Children are congratulated with a certificate in assembly.
