Year 3 visits Cambridge Gurdwara

As part of our Junior School World Religion Week last week, Year 3 pupils learnt about the Sikh faith. The girls have been completely immersing themselves in the rituals and experiences of practising Sikhs and were fortunate to be able to visit the Cambridge Gurdwara to further their knowledge and understanding. The group was given a tour of the Gurdwara, including the attractive meeting room and the kitchen where the langar, the meal eaten after any worship, is served. All the girls were very respectful throughout, wore scarves over their heads and removed their shoes as requested. They also learnt about equality for all, prayer and dedication, some amazing acts of kindness and generosity by local Sikhs and heard some prayers being sung. Jag Singh, who was host to our girls, continued to share facts about the Golden Temple and famous Sikhs whilst the girls sat on the floor and ate snacks kindly provided by the Gudwara team. The girls were lucky to have Year 3 pupil Kierat G. in the group, who was able to share her own knowledge and understanding of the faith, and the girls all agreed that the whole trip was a wonderful experience and were very grateful to the Sikh community for such amazing hospitality.
