Year 8 ACE Day - Cadbury World

On Tuesday 30 January the Senior School and Sixth Form hosted an Academic Curriculum Enrichment (ACE) day. The day provides an opportunity to visit different exhibitions, places of interest, and to learn in different environments. Each year group embarked on an activity unique to their studies and year group.

The Year 8 cohort visited Cadbury World in Bournville, Birmingham. Visiting the factory allowed the students to build on their lessons last term, when they looked at the role Fair Trade and Cocoa Life have in development of London International Development Centres (LIDCs), which rely on the export of primary products such as cocoa beans. The girls also learnt about the wider industry, looking at the journey of the cocoa bean as they are manufactured into products and marketed.

The day started out with the group listening to a talk about the history of Cadbury, putting the brand into context. Following this, the girls went on a tour of the factory, which included a rather fun 4D cinema ride on a chocolate roller coaster!
