St Mary's girls 'game' to tackle a new challenge

St Mary's School, Cambridge students were game to learn some new cooking skills recently as they mastered the art of deboning a pheasant - part of a national initiative to put more sustainable meat back on the menu.

Pheasant isn't usually on the menu at St Mary's, however as part of a national 'Game Changer' initiative - which intends to teach 60,000 students how to cook pheasant, and other types of game meat, by 2020 - our Year 10 students were found rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck into the task at hand. The project not only gave the children the chance to prepare meat, but it also gave them the opportunity to taste pheasant - which for many of them was a first.
