Visiting author inspires pupils with book that cannot be opened!

On 26 May 2017 Junior School pupils loved hearing from visiting author and illustrator Ms Yiting Lee who came to talk to the girls about her book The AlleyThe Alley is most certainly a book with a difference; it is a book that cannot be opened! At first, some of the older girls thought that it might be an e-book, but Ms Lee went on to explain how the book does in fact open and to show the girls the book. She has illustrated, written and published the book herself and, aside from inspiring the girls to become authors and illustrators, there was another message which came over clearly. English is not Ms Lee’s first language, but she wrote the book in English and, as she herself said, it may have some errors. There were certainly some hurdles to overcome in the production of the book, but this didn’t stop her, and Ms Lee encouraged the girls to see hurdles as positive obstacles, encouraging the girls to always keep trying and never give up. From the minute she started speaking the girls were engrossed.
