Who will be looking after me?

There is a dedicated boarding team who look after the boarding community.

Mrs Suzanne Bird

As Head of Boarding, Mrs Bird looks after the overall boarding aspect at St Mary's. She is responsible for monitoring the running of both boarding houses. Mrs Bird teaches Biology and Learning Support.

 

 

Mrs Kate Darch

Mrs Darch is Assistant Housemistress of the main school boarding area The Elms and School House for years 7-13. She is responsible for the day to day running of the boarding house monitoring the girls' academic and personal development. In addition Mrs Darch is Head of French.

 

 

Mrs Anne Crawford

As non teaching Assistant Housemistress Mrs Crawford manages the domestic side of the house helping to ensure that the house facilities are in good order with the support of The Works department. She also helps the girls complete their laundry and keep their clothing in good condition.

 

 

Mrs Karole Lewis - Housemistress of the main school boarding area as well as teaching Chemistry, Extended Project Qualification and Careers.

Miss Helen Ison - Assistant Housemistress of Bateman House and Head of Admissions and Marketing

Visiting Tutors

In addition to the resident staff there is a team of teachers who visit the boarding house for an evening during the week.

Mrs Larman teaches English and is the School Librarian

Miss Spore is Head of Geography and Duke of Edinburgh Award

Miss Metcalf lectures in Illustration at the University of Anglia Ruskin and is a children's author.

In addition three fully qualified nurses provide medical care during the day in the school's Medical Centre. The School Doctor visits the school once a week; girls can make an appointment at the Trumpington Road Surgery at any other time. Appointments can also be made to see the School Counsellor if needed.

Together we form a team determined to foster the good sprit of this happy, vibrant, multicultural house and to encourage the boarders to take part in all that the School and Cambridge has to offer so that they can flourish and develop their full potential.
