About St Mary’s

Lourdes

“To sum up my opinion of Lourdes in three phrases:
1) a fantastic experience
2) enriching, both spiritually and mentally
3) absolutely exhausting!”

pets join in with the silly slipper fun
Is it silly slipper day or the pet show?

At St Mary’s we have become so used to the various fundraising stunts to make money to send sick and handicapped children to Lourdes each Summer that the following seem perfectly normal in a good cause - the sight of green hair on Wacky Hair Day, visibly expanding waistlines from daily cake stalls, and groups of girls rehearsing in corners to prepare for the Talent Show and Gladiators! So, for example, on 15th March, when most of the school turned up in the hall for Meningitis vaccinations wearing silly slippers, someone had to explain to the somewhat surprised medical staff that it was not usual school uniform! The fortnight traditionally ends with a lunchtime netball match between our UVI and a team from the Perse Boys School and an evening Disco organised by LVI for the Lower School. Every form undertakes to raise money during these two weeks and we are doing our best to match or improve on last year’s total of £3,000.

“We discovered the best time to visit the Grotto was at four o’clock in the morning, when the whole scene is incredible.”
