Year 7 pond dipping

Every year, a number of St Mary’s students are offered free tickets to King’s College Carol Service.

Sixth Form study days, the Elgin Marbles and Verulanium are just three of the items on the menu for students of Classics at St Mary’s.

Throughout the year, the English Department organises theatre visits suited to students of different ages including trips to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Year 7, London), Romeo and Juliet (Year 8, Cambridge Arts), Henry V (Year 9, Barbican), and An Inspector Calls (Year 11, Milton Keynes).

Geography students routinely undertake fieldwork in the Chilterns (Year 7) and Harlow (Year 9).

GCSE Science students attend annual Physics and Chemistry at Work exhibitions at the Cavendish Laboratory and APU, Cambridge and Year 8 students visit Whipsnade Zoo. Sixth Formers studying science subjects, Business Studies and Economics travel to London for conferences and study days.

Sixth Form students of Art and Art History visit the Fitzwilliam Museum, the National Gallery, the Royal Academy, the Tate Modern, and attend other exhibitions in London.

The Stitching and Knitting Exhibition at Alexander Palace is a regular excursion for Year 10 and Sixth Form Textiles students.

The History department arranges visits to East Anglian Castles and Cathedrals (Year 7), Kentwell, the Imperial War Museum, the Black Country, the British Museum, Somerset House etc.

At weekends, boarders enjoy a busy programme and have been bowling in Ely, sightseeing in Oxford, punting in Grantchester, ice skating in Peterborough and walking in Great Yarmouth.
