The Easter Ski Trip, which is usually biennial, is primarily for Year 7 and 8 students. The destination in 2001 was Canada, where students enjoyed daily ski tuition and returned via Niagara Falls.
The Summer Watersports Holiday is another popular biennial event geared towards Year 8 and 9 students who head for the south of France for camping, swimming, canoeing, snorkelling, windsurfing, water-skiing and sailing in the sun. Budgeting is easy as costs are all inclusive.
In the past, St Mary’s has organised Sports Tours to South Africa and Holland. Sports Tours are open to capable and committed sports-women from Years 10 and 11.
Your daughter will study at least one modern foreign language to GCSE level and will be encouraged to visit the country. Years 9 and 10 student exchanges with schools in Paris, Duisburg and Turin are fixtured on the school calendar.
Sixth Formers, regardless of their A Level subjects, are most welcome to join the biennial trip to Paris organised by the History and Art History Departments.
The Battlefields Tour to France and Belgium is popular with Year 10 and 11 students who gain a deeper understanding of the First World War.
From the Papal Audience to people-watching, from the Colosseum to the catacombs, Rome 2000 was a huge hit with the Year 9 students and in safer times another ‘one-off’ trip took students to the Holy Land.
With its commercialism and spirituality, its night clubs and early morning work as handmaidens, Lourdes provides a very special experience for Sixth Formers and the annual Pilgrimage is increasingly well supported by all students at St Mary’s by their charity fundraising.
