Year eight students were winners last week of Ludi Scaenici (Scenic games), a competition of performances of original short Latin plays performed by schools from East Anglia and the Midlands.
The St Mary's entry, Puellae, fur et candidati, (The girls, the thief and the candidates) was A Roman detective story involving a school trip, a robbery and political corruption. Among the fourteen-strong cast of year eight pupils, the principal roles were played by Nuria C, Eva D, Imogen F, who played the detectives, while Jone T and Charlottle P added much humour in their brilliant portrayals of Caecilius and Metella.
