Year 9 students took a step back in time during a presentation tracing the lives and deaths of members of a battalion in the First World War.
Andrew Tatham, an independent historian, presented The Group Photo Project giving students an insight into political history from the study of human nature and endeavour, through stories of the soldiers.
The presentation gave a highly personal view of the First World War and Andrew Tatham’s meticulous research was not only enlightening academically but showed that history has relevance for everyone. He urged the girls to become interested in their families while relatives are still alive to share their memories and experiences.
He showed an animated film and the results of his research of a group of men who were in the same battalion and fought in the Battle of Loos in 1915 telling their stories and the history surrounding their lives and deaths.
We look forward to welcoming Andrew Tatham back again soon.
