St Mary’s students celebrated World Book Day with a variety of activities taking place throughout the school.
Junior School girls were able to make use of a Travelling Book Fair which ran throughout the week with a selection of stories available for girls’ of all ages. On World Book Day students attended school dressed as a character from their favourite book and discussed their chosen character in their classes. They ended the week with a visit from children’s author, Yvonne Coppard who ran creative workshops throughout the day.
St Mary’s Senior School marked World Book Day with a balloon debate on the girls’ favourite authors. A range of authors were represented from Roald Dahl and Michael Morpurgo to Jodie Picoult and Jane Austen. The authors who won the debate were Katharine Holabird and Shakespeare. A book swap was also running throughout the week encouraging the girls to swap their old books for a ‘new’ read.
