Nearly a quarter of St Mary’s students were jumping for joy on hearing that they have achieved more than ten A* to A grades in their GCSE results.
An outstanding A* - A grades were awarded for 69 per cent of the overall examination grades and 99 per cent of grades were A* - C.
Students performed exceptionally well in all the core subjects with a 100 per cent A* - C pass rate in Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. The girls excelled in a range of subjects: 100 per cent of musicians achieving A* - B, 69 per cent of which were A* grades; 98 per cent of Modern Foreign Language students achieved A* - C and 95 per cent of drama students were awarded an A* - B grade.
Charlotte Avery, Headmistress and member of the Girls’ Schools Association, explained: “Our outstanding results show that St Mary’s truly supports each girl as an individual, developing her unique skills. Given our wide ability intake at all levels of the school these results are a true accolade to the work our girls put into their studies and the additional support and tuition offered by our dedicated teachers.
“Our results in the core subjects are very impressive and we also have some very strong creative results particularly in Art where 97 per cent of students were awarded A* - B grades and Textiles where 100 per cent achieved A* - B. These fantastic results were announced just as St Mary’s opens its new Art and Photography Centre of Excellence in September.”
